The Power of Prayer!

Back in early June, Deacon Mathew organized an online Novena to the Holy Spirit. And a beautiful nine days it was. At 7 pm each evening we set aside our work, our outside activities, and we gave 30 minutes to the Holy Spirit.

For me, with all the sickness going on in my family, and losing the last of my brothers in Nova Scotia, it was a devastating time, and now I didn’t have my “rock” my brother Hughie to guide me through with his advice and prayers.

Then as the Novena started, I knew this was going to be so good for all of us who took part at 7pm each day. For me, with my daughter, son, and losing my brother, I was going to be ok, and would be able to get through it all.

Why? I could feel the Holy Spirit in my heart, I could feel a calmness, come over me, like I was being told all is going to be ok, I am here with you. Just pray and ask and I am here. 

After the 9 days, I did feel better. I felt a weight was lifted off me, and I was able to deal with my daughter and son on a less frantic matter, and believe me what a feeling it was knowing the Holy Spirit lifted this off me.  

As for my dear brother, I knew he was already with God, and he would now be with me from Heaven.

I want to thank Deacon Mathew for giving us this Novena, and for being with us all the way.  For me, I am able to relax a little more, and I always knew that to pray to the Holy Spirit was very spiritual in heart and mind. After this 9 day novena, I know the Holy Spirit is always there with us all. Just pray and ask, and you will receive what we all got: peace, calmness, and we know we are watched over always.
