CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” -Matthew 19:14

All children are welcome to attend the Children's Liturgy in the parish hall during the Sunday Mass at 10:00 am.
Children’s Liturgy is available each Sunday, with one adult directing it. We have at any time 3 or 4 young women who help with the children.
We welcome children of any age, but if they are under the age of two a parent must attend with them.
It should be pointed out that this liturgy group is to give children some aspect into Catholic catechism and Holy Mass.
Presently, on every second Sunday (i.e., every two weeks) the children go to the front pews in the church on arrival and stay there until after the Collect. The presiding priest then gives them a blessing and they go downstairs for liturgy until the homily has finished. On other Sundays the children go directly downstairs on arrival.

We will make available to the children a copy of “My Picture Missal” which they are welcome to use during Mass – hopefully parents will help with this – and return them to the liturgy monitors at the end of Mass.

Because we have only a short time with the children – approx. 45 minutes- we try hard to teach them fellowship and sharing and some of the more simple prayers. Each Sunday they are given a colouring page which is based on the Gospel of that Sunday. They are also offered puzzles such as Word Search, Mazes, Dot to Dot and crosswords, again all based on the Gospel of the Sunday. Their choices generally depend on their age group. In addition we have books, Bibles for various age levels, and floor puzzles of various bible stories. The children are welcome to take the books home and return them when finished with them.

The Gospel is read from an age-appropriate book and discussed. Questions are answered to the best of our ability.
