MONICA MISSION
Join the Monica Mission!
Following the model of St. Monica who demonstrated the power of perseverance in prayer, Holy Rosary Parish is launching Monica Mission. The objective of this initiative is to form small groups of parishioners to pray for our Parish and our families so that our parish will be a true representation of God’s love and mercy in this world and we will be provided with a full-time Pastor to shepherd us.
Holy Rosary Parish has been going through some periods of trials and tribulations. We believe that “prayer” in faith is the only solution to overcome it. The life of St Monica is a model for perseverance in prayer.
Jesus has promised us in Mathew 18: 20 “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Therefore, we are calling up on our Parish members to gather in small groups of 2 or more people to pray specifically for our Parish.
The life of St. Monica (St Augustine’s mother) is a great example of perseverance, faith, and hope in prayer. Her perseverance in prayer and faith resulted in the conversion of her husband, and children especially of St Augustine. Her persistence in prayer is a model for all of us to come together and pray for our parish and parish community, our clergy and Ministry Leaders.
How does the Monica Mission Function?
With firm trust in God, we are launching a prayer campaign, a mission of prayer in our parish called “Monica Mission”. Under this initiative, we request parishioners to form small groups of 2 or more people who will gather every week by phone, zoom or in person to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our parish, its clergy and all of its activities.
Members of the prayer team can be members of the family, friends or other parish members. The suggested format is for 15-30 min:
1. Start with “In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” followed by one Our Father, and Hail Mary.
2. Hymn inviting Holy Spirit (optional)
3. A short gospel/Psalm (preferably from next Sunday Missal readings)
4. A brief time of silence/reflection (2-3 min). A brief reflection, if anybody wants to share (2-3 min)
5. Prayer to the Holy Spirit (see below)
Prayer to the Holy Spirit:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people and kindle in us the fire of your love.
Heavenly Father, you have called us, as the community of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, to be bearers of the Good News.
We give you thanks for our church, for our parish family, and for all the blessings we received through sacraments. We praise and worship you Lord, our Father.
Fill us with your Holy Spirit, that our parish may grow in faith, in love, and in unity. Help us to recognize your presence in every person we meet, and may our lives be filled with gratitude, love and mercy.
Grant that your wisdom, peace and love, which surpass all understanding, may guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Bless all who share in the life and work of our parish: in the ministry of word, prayer, and sacrament, in teaching and learning; in pastoral care; and in service to the wider community.
Open our minds to worship you in spirit and in truth. Open our eyes to the opportunities you place before us. Open our ears to hear your call. Open our hearts to receive your love and mercy and share them with others. Help our hands to do your will and help us to walk in your path. With your guidance, may we serve you faithfully and bring others to the light of your presence.
God, the creator of all, grow your Church in faith. God, the Son who saves the world, enrich us with your presence. God, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, resource us for our mission and ministry that we may be a channel of your love in our parish and beyond this parish and diocese as we are called together to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ our Lord.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, may we abound in hope and be strengthened to live as a community, united in faith and love. Amen.
